On July 30, 2026, the District Administration conducted a mock drill to assess disaster management preparedness based on a simulated scenario of a breakage of an irrigation embankment of Rajsamand Lake. The exercise covered the entire response process, from rescue operations to relief and rehabilitation measures.
Soon after the mock drill commenced, heavy rainfall made the situation appear remarkably similar to an actual disaster scenario. During the exercise, the District Administration assessed inter-departmental coordination, availability of resources, response time and the effectiveness of rescue and relief operations. The communication system, availability of essential equipment, and the speed and efficiency of relief operations were also reviewed. The District Police practised securing and cordoning off the affected area, regulating traffic, and safely evacuating members of the public to designated safe locations. The mock drill also provided an opportunity to review the roles and responsibilities of various departments and assess the level of coordination required during an emergency.
Officials and personnel from the District Administration, PHED, Medical and Health Department, Disaster Management Department, Municipal Council, and other concerned departments participated in the exercise.
The objective of the mock drill was to ensure that, in the event of any potential disaster, the administration and concerned departments are able to respond promptly, coordinate effectively, and carry out rescue, relief and emergency response operations in an efficient and well-organized manner.
