Training plays an important role in human resource development for civil defence and fire services:-
The training in the Civil Defence Department is planned on a three-tier concept i.e. at the district level, state level and national level as well. National Disaster Response Force Academy (National Civil Defence College) Nagpur (Maharashtra) is a training institute under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi, which also conducts some special and advanced training courses for the training of state trainers.
Training conducted at National Level at "National Disaster Response Force Academy (National Civil Defence College), Nagpur" - Civil Defence Instructor Course, Unexploded Bombs and Explosive Safety Course, Vertical Rope Rescue Course, Management Desired Course, Search and Rescue Techniques (CSSR) Course, Auxiliary Fire Fighting Course, Emergency Response to Rail Transport Accident Course, Flood/Cyclone Disaster Responder Course etc. "Civil Defence & Home Guard Academy, Bangalore" Watermanship Course is conducted.
Training conducted at State Level at "Civil Defence Training Institute, Jaipur" - Incident Command Course, Advanced Warden Course, Basic Life Support Course, Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue Course, Advanced Vertical Rescue Course, Volunteer Fire Fighting Course, Bomb Safety Course, Chemical, Biological Radiological/Nuclear First Responder Course, Emergency Communication Course, Conduct of Training Course, Disaster Response and Preparedness Course, Flood Rescue Operation Course and Auxiliary Fire Fighting Course etc.
Training organized at District level in "District Civil Defence Office" - 5 days basic and related service training maintained by Civil Defence for new members.
For subordinates/personnel/officers/volunteers, training courses are conducted at Civil Defence Training Institute, Rajasthan, Jaipur and at national level at NDRF Academy and NFSC Nagpur. National Fire Service College, Nagpur was established in the year 1956 to meet the training needs of the officer cadre of fire service. It conducts various certificate/diploma and advanced diploma courses approved by AICTE for career development of fire professionals. Since the year 1978, this college is also conducting four year B.E. (Fire) course.
